Korn also had some impressive guests on the album. Along with Fred Durst – hey, it was a big deal back then – and Tre Hardson from alternative rappers The Pharcyde, they managed to get NWA’s Ice Cube and no less a legend than Cheech Marin, with whom Munky smoked more than a few joints. I think the Cheech thing came about from Fieldy, Munky smiles.
Studio album by Korn. March–May 1998 at NRG Recording Studios in North Hollywood, California. Nu metal, alternative metal, rap metal. By early 1998, Korn returned to the studio to record Follow the Leader. Even though Korn was impressed by the work Ross Robinson had done on their previous albums, they decided to work with Steve Thompson and Toby Wright. Korn was shown making the video on KornTV
Love them or hate them, no-one can deny that Korn have been one of the most important bands in the development of mainstream metal over the last two decades. Their simple, yet effective formula of crunching, down-tuned guitars, hip hop rhythms and schizophrenic vocal stylings was swiftly copied by hundreds of inferior clones. This new form of metal, appropriately titled nu metal, would soon invade radio rock and fill the airwaves with bass-heavy nuggets of musical distress. While much of the music to follow them was genuinely awful, Korn had a talent for crafting emotional, metallic anthems.

I was a Freshman in high school the year that this album came out and when I first heard, there was no looking back. I actually performed the song "It's On" at my high school Christmas talent show.
