This is a compilation that comes from the past. Just look at the artists! Look at the year of LSD's mix! The featured tracks are all excellent in their own way. Of course, there are some that are just above-average but the rest of the cast makes you go on this ancient Goa trip superbly. It is hard to pick a favorite, I will go with LSD and Full On but it is a close call. Highly recommended!

This item is a nice collector object, DAT records made a great work. Insert the CD in your high quality hifi (or monitoring) system, then turn the volume up, turn it up again, and get ready for shakes along your body and several eargasms! The extended mix of Ring Of Fire sent me sooo faaar away that I never really came back!Just one thing : why is the price increasing?

Big ups to Draeke for this great old skool compilation which has a really nice flow to it as a Goa set should have. I think the sound is excellent. Maybe it is because I mostly listen to old skool, but I can't get enough of those textured analogue synths and the mastering sounds good to me. Anyway, because Goa trance was partly an exploration of the chthonic within the postmodern, the ancient is not a problem. For sure the Green Nuns turn in one of their best tracks, but I don't think there's a bad track on this. Space Tribe's track has a great dreamtime vibe, the mix of Slinky Wizard is awesome and one of their best tracks, and the last two fabulous tracks by Prana and Nervasystem are perfect come downs. But really every track on this compilation is classic and totally psychedelic. I think this would have been a rated compilation in 1996, which is the highest praise i can bestow. Really great work from Draeke that would be good to hear on that beach or in that jungle under the stars. ~*~

thank you guys 4 this unbelievable retroGoa compilations: Mind Rewind 1-2, Live in Athens.....i admit this is very interesting compilation too, but not strong as the previous were.Ring Of Fire (Extended Mix) -a mindblowing version of a mindblowing track, incredible!- maybe, it values the entire compilation.i'm agree with Josef when he say: "The compilation as a whole sounds very ancient"...maybe too much ancient !?I'm agree with you, i don't like the "loudness war" of nowdays, but i prefer the Mind Rewind Series mastering....it's only my opinion, but i lived the 95-99 golden era and if i have to be honest the music did not sound so old at the parties.Or am i wrong?

Thanks for your words, both Joseph and OldGoa !Let me tell you that it was very hard to complete this compilation as we wanted to have all alternate versions of famous tracks and then let me also say that the conditions of the tracks found were just good in most of the cases. We had to seriously restore some of the tracks and to do some miracle work to have them sound decently enough for a release. We aimed to document an era and to offer some incredibly rare tracks. Now, they may not be the clearest sounding tracks but believe me, these are not sounding worst than when they were created. At least I can ensure you that Slinky Wizard listened to the mastered version and said it sounds much better than when they recorded it in the studio. The sound dated? Maybe. They sound Raw? Yes they do, but they represent that era and that is how they should sound. I am sure that if you include them into your oldschool set, they would work. But of course if you compare them to modern productions, they rightfully sound dated. Enjoy :)!

It seems that these days everything is (almost) possible and dreams are becoming reality in the world of old and unreleased Goa. What up to some years ago would have been tagged as utterly unconceivable and at best, if suggested, laughable in materialisation terms, today is seeing the green light. Take this compilation which was purposely announced on the 1st of April on Psynews.org., and look at the first track, the original version of LSD. Conceived in 1993, the released version is of course much better however the '93 edit is the embryo of the track which to a lot is the definition of Goa trance. Who would have dreamt one day this track would have been officially released? The compilation as a whole sounds very ancient thanks to the dedicated mastering and that's how it's supposed to sound. Some tracks like Free Lemonade sound extremely raw but in the good way. The end track takes a different route, very relaxed but still danceable. The only track I don't like is the Desk mix of We Are Free. Again sounds raw, but somehow I don't dig it.Musically it may not be the best 'neo-classic' Goa CD but for the veteran artist line-up is certainly unbeatable so far. When was it last time Hallucinogen, Space Tribe, Doof, Slinky Wizard, the Green Nuns, Total Eclipse, Etnica, Prana and Nervasystem met on a CD? In 1996 latest. Notice how I mentioned them all. Also comes with an 8-page booklet instead of a simple 2-page foldout, something which is also rare these days with this kind of music.
