Harp: Song for Reconciliation. This is the new release and the first "solo effort" from one-half of The Magical Strings duo. He is the harpist in the group, and on Harp he explores the various motifs of the celtic harp, which in this case were designed and hand-crafted by Boulding. This is far from a solo effort, however, as contributions from Billy Oskay of Nightnoise are everywhere evident, as producer, engineer and sideman on three cuts.

Harp - Song for Reconciliation. Magical Strings' Philip Boulding plays wire and nylon strung Celtic harps and whistles. Says Boulding of his first solo album: "From my retreat looking out over the pasture to Magic Hill and the Puget Sound beyond, news of a tragic event in Northern Ireland brings forth a 'Song for Reconciliation,' carrying with it my desire to bring solace to troubled lives and a hope to inspire peace throughout the world. Producer Billy Oskay supports Boulding on violin, viola, piano and harmonium. This product is manufactured on demand using CD-R recordable media.

On his 1988 solo album, Harp, Boulding explored the melodic possibilities of his multi-stringed instrument. Boulding grew up in a highly academic atmosphere. His parents, who were university professors, authors and peace activists, were both nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize. As a youngster, he spent extended periods in Jamaica and Japan. Studying classical violin at the age of six, Boulding switched to guitar six years later. By the time he was in high school, he was skillfully building his own guitars. Discovering the hammered dulcimer, he built an instrument and taught himself to play.
