For the past decade or so, maybe more, Ramleh on record has been, essentially, a power electronics outfit. The duo includes founder Gary Mundy (also the man behind Broken Flag records and erstwhile occasional member of Skullflower), and longtime ally Anthony diFranco, who use battered electronic devices to build up walls of ear-shattering noise, along the way taking the Whitehouse template and finding its inner psychedelia.
Ramleh are a British experimental music group formed by musician Gary Mundy in 1982. The current line-up of the band includes Gary Mundy, Anthony di Franco and Stuart Dennison. Surfers were influences on these works . As I Have Won (1984, Broken Flag). Awake! (1985, Broken Flag).
Ramleh's first album after 2009 reunion expressed a revival of the band's original power electronics genre and was compared to the works of Japanese noise musician Merzbow, while the band retained its rock music instrumentation during this era, performing on both genres.
Best has been a frequent collaborator with Gary Mundy on projects such as Ramleh (c. 1987–1997). In 1995, under the Consumer Electronics moniker, Best joined forces with Japanese noise musician Masami Akita – along with several Ramleh cohorts – to release "Horn of the Goat. In 1998, Best published his doctoral thesis at Durham University entitled "Apocalypticism in the Fiction of William S. Burroughs, . Ballard and Thomas Pynchon", and later received a doctorate in English literature.
Originally released as the Ramleh side of the split LP (BFV2) featuring Ramleh A Return To Slavery on one side and Libertarian Recordings Slaughter At Random on the other side. Tracks 12-13 were recorded at the Broken Flag home studio in January 1983. Track 12 was originally released as part of the Hate's Our Belief compilation cassette on Aquilifer Sodality. Originally released as Live As I Have Won on Broken Flag (BF38). Track 8 was recorded at 101 Studios, Croydon on July 15th 1984.
