The Project's first singer, Ralph Mormon, was replaced in 1980 with the equally effective Charlie Farren, who also added rhythm guitar. Then the stage was set for the group making its best album. In interviews Perry had said he wanted to capture The Sex Pistols' energy, and the crash-and-burn power of "East Coast, West Coast" is evidence that Perry's brilliance had been a bit shackled at times within Aerosmith
Perry, Farren, Stewart, and Hull recorded one album, I've Got the Rock'n'Rolls Again, which proved to be less successful than the group's debut effort. Columbia Records executives were reluctant to promote the album, which some believe was due solely on the fact that they were much more interested in a reunited Aerosmith, than a Perry solo project. This resistance from the label, combined with Perry's ongoing drug and financial problems, led to the entire band quitting in 1982. The new Joe Perry Project also backed Joe on his latest album, making it a de facto JPP album. On September 20, 2009, the new Joe Perry Project played the first public concert of the Have Guitar, Will Travel Tour at Memorial Hall in Plymouth, Massachusetts. The show was announced just days before the event.
Joe perry really uses his guitar to say sex! Plus he knows he knows he's sexy! He better be good in bed! ! (WiNK!) 2 months ago. Perry is so cool that he doesn't even need a bass player in the band, even though you hear a bass player, Joe and his skills are clearly responsible, nuff said. 2 months ago.
