Flowermouth is No-Man's 2nd full album and what a beauty it is. It is full of great, atmospheric sounds, sometimes ambient in a few short passages, sometimes featuring drum loops you can dance to, other times offering an atmospheric jazz/rock fusion and other times discordant sounds. Each track has it's own great characteristics and surprises, the one constant being Bowness' airy vocals which work in every scenario presented here.

No-Man are an English art pop duo, formed in 1987 as No Man Is an Island (Except the Isle of Man) by singer Tim Bowness and t Steven Wilson. The band has so far produced six studio albums and a number of singles/outtakes collections (most notably, 2006's career retrospective, All the Blue Changes)
Listen free to No-Man – Flowermouth (Angel Gets Caught in the Beauty Trap, You Grow More Beautiful and more). Things were better honed for No-Man on Flowermouth, released a year after the band's debut. Minus Ben Coleman (although you'd never guess because he appears on seven of nine tracks), Tim Bowness and Steven Wilson were aided by Robert Fripp, Ian Carr, Steve Jansen, and Richard Barbieri (who recorded the excellent set Flame with Bowness in the same year).
Chris Maitland (born 13 May 1964) is an English drummer. Maitland was born in Cambridge. After being the drummer for No-Man on their Autumn 1993 tour (and playing on two tracks on their Flowermouth album), Maitland was asked by the band's Steven Wilson to join his other main project, the progressive rock band Porcupine Tree. He remained the band's drummer until February 2002, when he was dismissed and replaced by Gavin Harrison.
No-Man member Steven Wilson tackles four of the remixes himself, proving to be quite able at the task- "Angel Gets Caught in the Beauty Trap" gets recast as "Angeldust" by Wilson, loaded in a throbbing bass, Robert Fripp-provided soundscapes and featuring vocalist Tim Bowness' voice sounding as if it's right next to your ear, turns out to be one o. Bottom line for me though, three great mixes, a couple pieces of some modest interest and a bunch of stuff I didn't need to hear makes an ok album, but since two of those remixes ended up on the reissue of Flowermouth ("Angeldust" and "Born Simple", albeit in the latter's case in a slightly truncated- for the better- form), it seems.
