To me, finding a good female fronted metal album is a rarity. This rings even truer now that it seems that Nightwish have stopped releasing respectable material and Arch Enemy have basically been releasing the same damn album for the last 5 years. That's not to say that there isn't any good female fronted metal out there anymore, but chances are that if I'm listening to a metal album its gonna be a dude handling the vocals.

Sweden's Amaran once again throw their lot into Europe's bustling operatic metal cauldron with their second effort, 2004's Pristine in Bondage. Unlike the power metal-leaning Nightwish or the increasingly trip-hopping the Gathering, however, Amaran usually imparts a darker, more sinister edge to their thrash-based compositions - not to mention their visual and lyrical imagery. At least some of the time, given this clearly conflicted album.

Get it; you will not be complete without this album! Anyway. ometimes I wonder what would have happened if Johanna had never left the band and if they kept writing music. The Swedish Amaran was founded with members coming from different musical backgrounds. Their first demo was recorded without a drummer. In 2002 they recorded their debut ‘A World Depraved’ in the Aabenra Studio in Denmark. The songs they wrote after that sounded heavier and in April 2003 they went to Sweden to record ‘Pristine In Bondage’. The CD sounds as a thunderstorm and singer Johanna DePierre remains standing up in between all this musical power.
