Naturally, the not-so-unspoken joke behind the title of Willie Nelson’s 2010 album is that it’s been so long since he’s played straight country music, Nelson needs to clearly label it when he does. Of course, that’s not strictly true: just as recently as 2009 he was ripping it up with Asleep at the Wheel, turning out a straight-ahead western swing record that is every bit as country as Country Music, although it is true that he’s never quite cut a collection of country music as hushed and muted as this.

When Willie Nelson released his 2016 tribute album to the Gershwin brothers, he was showing his reverence for the Great American Songbook. But the fact is that Nelson’s own works deserve a volume or two. The Texas native has written some of music’s most important titles, from Crazy, made famous by Patsy Cline, to Funny How Times Slips Away, covered by Elvis Presley. I thought it was the funniest thing in the world. And I tried not to disappoint ’em!

Willie Nelson, an icon on the country music scene is still touring almost 60 years since he first began as an artist. Willie has been releasing music solidly and consistenly since his very first album 'And Then I Wrote' in 1962 and with a discography that now stands at 62 albums and 110 singles, it may seem like an impossible feat to choose a setlist. I have always been a big fan of Willie Nelson and he didn’t disappoint. This was my first time to see him live in concert. the concert was too short!! I’m 70 years old, and I waited a long time to see him, but that was my fault.
