CELIBIDACHE, Münchner Philharmoniker - Bruckner: Symphony No. Import. Those listeners with "ears to hear" would acclaim Celi's performance of the Bruckner Fifth as a longer odyssey by far; sceptics would largely agree but ascribe it to tedium. This performance is Celi's Credo: it takes stamina and empathy on the part of the listener to encompass this "Religion of Sounds" but the rewards are there for those who have the wherewithal.
Celibidache, Münchner Philharmoniker. Bruckner expert Celibidache was critical of musical recordings, preferring the concert hall experience. Always true to his principles, he never signed a recording contract. Luckily enough, however, a few recordings were released after his death. In this recording, Bruckner slowly towers up over the listener, a noble and imposing presence.
