Woman was another hit-and-miss album from the British Invasion duo, unfortunately full of more misfires than not. There's but one original on this album, and maybe it's no coincidence that this effort, "Wrong From the Start," is the best song on the LP other than "Woman. Wrong From the Start" is nothing great, but at least it's straight-ahead period rock with organ. Most of the album, in contrast, nearly drowns in fatuous orchestral production. Not only weren't Peter & Gordon making the most of their abilities, they at this point were less adventurous than they had been on their 1964 debut album, at a time when pop music was changing at a blinding speed. Collectables combined Woman and the 1967 album Lady Godiva onto a single-CD release, with the addition of two bonus tracks from singles, "Jokers" and "Knight in Rusty Armour.

Peter and Gordon were a British pop duo, composed of Peter Asher (b. 1944) and Gordon Waller (1945–2009), who achieved international fame in 1964 with their first single, the million-selling transatlantic N. smash "A World Without Love". The duo had several subsequent hits in the British Invasion era. Peter Asher and his sister Jane were child actors in the 1950s. They played siblings in a 1955 episode of the television series The Adventures of Robin Hood.

Artist: Peter & Gordon. Album: The Ultimate Peter and Gordon, 2003. In June 1964, Peter & Gordon became the very first British Invasion act after the Beatles to take the number one spot on the American charts with "A World Without Love. That hit, and their subsequent successes, were due as much or more to their important connections as to their talent. Peter Asher was the older brother of Jane Asher, Paul McCartney's girlfriend for much of the 1960s. After Peter & Gordon broke up in 1968, Asher became an enormously successful producer, first as the director of A&R at the Beatles' Apple Records (where he worked on James Taylor's first album). Relocating to Los Angeles, in the 1970s he was one of the principal architects of mellow Californian rock, producing Taylor and Linda Ronstadt.

Woman" is a 1966 single by Peter and Gordon, written by Paul McCartney under a pseudonym. Under the Lennon–McCartney moniker, McCartney had written three previous Peter and Gordon singles. I Don't Want to See You Again

Paul McCartney wrote "Woman" for Peter&Gordon in 1966!!! That's more than a decade BEFORE Lennon wrote his "Woman" song for Double Fantasy. Your entire "theory," which is really just a rant, is wrong. And Lennon moved to New York because that's where everything was happening and because the UK was giving him and Yoko a tremendously hard time, attacking her looks and calling her names. Samuel from Kilsyth, United KingdomPaul McCartney is a very SLY MAN,He was so JEALOUS that John Lennon& song & was taking all the limelight away.
