Blues is a blues rock compilation album by Eric Clapton released in 1999. The release features songs from Clapton's 1970s RSO albums, as well as some unreleased material from the same era. The second disc features live recordings. Before You Accuse Me (Take a Look at Yourself)" (Ellas McDaniel) – 4:39 (Previously unreleased acoustic outtake from Backless, 1978). Mean Old World" (Walter Jacobs) – 3:50 (Outtake from Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs, 1970). Ain't That Lovin' You" (Jimmy Reed) – 5:26.
Rhythm and blues has a lot of bounce; the Beatles were good at bounce. But the blues itself requires something more elemental; something that goes back to humanity at its most primal. Presumably Slow Hand hadn’t minded the lampooning. But maybe no one saw Lennon’s initial intentions for what they were, given the power of the track.

Blues Incorporated’s approach is unpretentious but still academic compared to the young Turks who would soon consign Korner to yesterday’s man. But without him it’s arguable whether The Stones, Manfred Mann or even the Small Faces would have got started. 10. Fleetwood Mac - Mr Wonderful (Blue Horizon, 1968). Given the reputations of Eric Clapton, Jack Bruce and Ginger Baker, the feverishly anticipated debut album from this power trio was always going to struggle to live up to expectations. And even though it didn’t, it is still one of the most important albums in 60s blues rock, and its influence on what came afterwards is immense.

9 Magical Blues Licks from Eric Clapton & . King - two of the most exciting and original blues guitarists to play blues licks - have instantly recognizable sounds. Recorded in 1964, the album captures King holding court at Chicago’s Regal Theater, backed by a tight, six-man ensemble. We hear how he could work an audience of young fans into an ecstatic frenzy with his combination of crafty showmanship, emotive guitar, and honey-toned vocals. One of the most precious jewels in Live at the Regal’s crown is Sweet Little Angel - a King original and a staple of his ’50s and ’60s live shows. His performance is chock-full of choice blues licks, and lick 2 offers a sweet taste of slow-blues sugar.
