Fantaisie for piano and orchestra, L. 73, is a composition for piano and orchestra by French composer Claude Debussy. It was composed between October 1889 and April 1890 but it received its first public performance only in 1919, a year after Debussy's death, in London by the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra with Alfred Cortot as soloist. It is Debussy's only composition for piano and orchestra and, even though it is written in a three movement form, it was not composed as a Piano Concerto
A1. I. Andante - Allegro.
Fantaisie (for Piano and Orchestra) (1998 Digital Remaster): III: Allegro molto by Jean Martinon/Orchestre National De L'. Conductor Martinon and the French orchestra perform them all with commitment and impart that intangible Gallic flavor. Several of the works feature prominent soloing for oboe, harp, clarinet, saxophone, and piano; all are unmistakably the work of a master composer. These '70s-era recordings are expertly remastered with plenty of presence and no noticeable distortion nor disconcerting harshness; none can be mistaken for modern digital recordings, but often that's a "good" thing as it certainly is here. Fantasie for Piano and Orchestra - Debussy's version of a Piano Concerto. 3 movements as with a PC.
