His quartet is one of the top Polish modern jazz groups, although it is one of the youngest ones. The Quartet appeared for the first time at the International Jazz Festival in Warsaw in 1963 and was enthusiastically received by the international jazz critics who attended the Festival and jazz fans. The German jazz critic J. E. Berendt wrote afterwards about "the great discovery" and foreign managers booked the group for the whole of 1964. ZBIGNIEW NAMYSLOWSKI - is one of the most versatile and active jazz musicians in Poland. Originally released on LP: DECCA LK 4644, 1964 Recorded August 1964 at Decca Studios, London Recording engineer: Vic Smith Album production: Michael Vernon CD remastering: Zbigniew Kozicki & Ewa Szafranek CD production: Zdzislaw Gogulski & Marek Winiarski Cover concept and photo reproduced from the original DECCA album.

ZBIGNIEW NAMYSLOWSKI MODERN JAZZ QUARTET Lola. Label: GOWI, 1996 (Poland) Catalog N. CDG 30 Condition: GENUINE, BRAND NEW, MINT, FACTORY SEALED. Audio Samples: Polish Jazz Playlists. The average jazz fan is strongly influenced in his thinking by the critics and popularizers of this music. Even though jazz is inevitably associated with the United States, it is, however, performed all over the world. The results of the work of musicians in countries, sometimes very remote from the United States, both geographically and culturally, are startling to some experts. For example, take the recent contacts of European jazz musicians and critics with jazz played in Asia.

Zbigniew Namysłowski at the Jazz Jamboree in 1966, photo: Tadeusz Wackier, FORUM. Namysłowski is a master of many instruments. From the age of four he played piano, he mastered cello at twelve, then studied music theory in Warsaw. He initially (the 1950s) played trombone in Polish Dixieland, and in the 1960s, he took up the alto saxophone and ventured into modern jazz, joining Andrzej Trzaskowski's hard bop group the Jazz Wreckers. In 1963 he formed his first quartet, with whom he recorded ground-breaking album Lola for England's Decca label. Namysłowski cites John Coltrane, Sonny Rollins, Wayne Shorter, and Joe Henderson as his favourite musicians but also draws.

Zbigniew Jacek Namysłowski (born September 9, 1939) is a Polish jazz alto saxophonist, flautist, cellist, trombonist, pianist and composer born in Warsaw, perhaps best known for appearing on the Krzysztof Komeda album Astigmatic. He has collaborated in the past with such artists as Janusz Muniak, Leszek Możdżer, Michał Urbaniak and Andrzej Trzaskowski. Lola (1964; Decca Records)
