What's on Your Mind (Pure Energy)" is a song by American synth-pop band Information Society that was released as a single in 1988. The "Pure Energy" subtitle derives from a sample of Leonard Nimoy's voice from the Star Trek episode "Errand of Mercy". There is also a sample of DeForest Kelley's voice from the episode "I, Mudd". John Leland of Spin magazine called it a "pretty potent dance record".
The album was released in June 1988 after a six-month delay. What's On Your Mind" reached its chart peak on the Hot 100 in October. Information Society formed in 1982 and had a club hit with "Running" in 1986, earning them a record deal with Tommy Boy, a progressive label that was home to many hip-hop acts, including De La Soul and Afrika Bambaataa.
Pure energy Pure energy. I know I could break you down But what good would it do? I could surely never know That what you say is true

Tell me what's on your mind. Here I am in silence. Looking 'round without a clue. I find myself alone again. All alone with you. I can see behind your eyes. The things that I don't know.
