The Rolling Stones - Aftermath (1966). Update Required To play the media you will need to either update your browser to a recent version or update your Flash plugin.

The Rolling Stones finally delivered a set of all-original material with this LP, which also did much to define the group as the bad boys of rock & roll with their sneering attitude toward the world in general and the female sex in particular.

Aftermath, released in the UK on April 15, 1966 by Decca Records, is the fourth British studio album by the Rolling Stones. It was released in the United States in June 1966 by London Records as their sixth American album. It remained as the number one album for eight weeks following its release. The album is considered an artistic breakthrough for the band, as it is the first Stones album to consist entirely of Mick Jagger/Keith Richards compositions. Aftermath is one of the final albums to benefit from the unique instrumental forays provided by Brian Jones.

Aftermath is the first album to feature solely self-penned compositions, but still contains the necessary filler material. Stupid Girl, with his wife unfriendly text, is an inept attempt to shock. This is like the blueprint for the identity of the Rolling Stones. An important record and the best since their début, it's the first to only feature compositions penned by Jagger and Richards. There's a darker, bluesy, macho edge to the Stones that you just don't get with Lennon-McCartney, but there is plenty of variety in style and they are all great tunes. Reply Notify me 1 Helpful.

I Am Waiting" is a song written by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards that was first released on the Rolling Stones' 1966 album Aftermath. I Am Waiting" was recorded between 6 and 9 March 1966 at RCA Studios in Hollywood, California. The song's lyrics are obscure. They have the singer "waiting for someone to come out of somewhere" but don't provide any details of the circumstances.

aftermath (the rolling stones album) Aftermath, released in April 1966 by Decca Records, is the fourth British studio album by the Rolling Stones It was issued in the United States in June 1966 by London Records as the group's sixth American album The album is considered an artistic breakthrough for the band: it is the first to consist entirely of Mick. According to Bill Wyman in Rolling With The Stones, the album was originally conceived as the soundtrack for the never filmed feature Back, Behind And In Front The whole deal fell off, though, when Jagger met with the potential director, Nicholas Ray, but didn't like him These recording sessions were also very busy for the group, as they recorded 21 Jagger–Richards.

Aftermath was The Rolling Stones’ fourth album in the UK, where it reached N. after being released by Decca Records on 15 April 1966. In the US, however, it was released two months later, on 20 July, by London Records. The US Aftermath also has one very significant track difference: it opens with ‘Paint It, Black’, a song that topped the Billboard Hot 100 on 11 June 1966 and stayed there for two weeks, and which provided the perfect springboard to launch the album into the US charts. The cohesion and overall sound and feel of Aftermath was improved by the inclusion of the band’s third American N. in less than a year. Listen to the US version of Aftermath right now. ‘Paint It, Black’ was recorded at the same March 1966 session in Hollywood as much of the rest of Aftermath.

My records has the variant 2 matrix runout, but on the label, both sides, the date 1966 is immediately below the name of Andrew Loog Oldham and not separated by a space, as represented by the photos included in this version.
