Artist: Rez Abbasi & Junction Album: Behind The Vibration Genre: Contemporary Jazz/Fusion Origin: USA Released: 2016 Quality: mp3, 320 kbps. Here he presents Junction, a new electric project of original music delivered by like-minded musicians with a lively plugged-in aesthetic-throbbing keyboards and funky yet tricky rhythms that lean heavily toward his early rock influences. Beat Kaestli Ben Stivers brings a plethora of keyboard and organ tones while Kenny Grohowski’s adds drumming pyrotechnics.

Rez Abbasi (born August 27, 1965) is an American jazz guitarist, composer, and record producer. Abbasi was born in Karachi, Pakistan. When he was four, his family moved to LosAngeles, and at eleven he started learning guitar. He spent his early teens in rock bands, then moved to jazz and classical music. He was inspired at a concert by Ella Fitzgerald and Joe Pass. He studied guitar at the University of Southern California and the Manhattan School of Music.

Guitarist Rez Abbasi returns to jazz-rock as a style on Behind the Vibration, but this time via electric instruments with original tunes. The result is modern jazz that sweeps in many styles. Rez Abbasi is a forward-thinking guitarist, a composer with a sense of history, and a musician who busts through boundaries regularly. To be fair, however, lumping him in with anyone is a disservice. In his very brief notes on the album, Abbasi writes that the music is intended to create an intersection, a junction, where all the music that he and his band love can come together. It’s not jazz, then, but (as he puts it) music of now.
