I'm the Man is Joe Jackson's second album, released in October 1979. Taken from the album, "It's Different for Girls", was his biggest UK chart single, peaking at number five in the UK Singles Chart. I'm the Man was re-released in 2001 with one bonus track, a live version of "Come On". "Come On" was originally released as the b-side to Jackson's single "I'm the Man", also issued in October 1979.

While this song represents his skill at crafting an effective ballad, the frantic "I'm the Man" showcases Jackson at his most frenzied, as a freight train's worth of lyrics pile haphazardly into one another alongside a wonderfully hysteric rhythm

Album by Joe Jackson. It's Different for Girls. I'm the Man. The Band Wore Blue Shirts. Don't Wanna Be Like That. Bonus track on the 2001 reissue: Come On (live). Musicians: Joe Jackson - vocals, piano, harmonica, melodica. Gary Sanford - guitar. Graham Maby - bass, vocals. Dave Houghton - drums, vocals.

Joe Jackson released ‘I’m the Man’ on October 5, 1979, remaking the image he'd forged with his debut LP ‘Look Sharp!’ . That was the label applied in the late ’70s to Joe Jackson, Elvis Costello and Graham Parker – songwriters and frontmen who became famous on the heels of the British punk explosion. Although these fellows created music as unfettered as the Sex Pistols and the Damned, they seemed to channel the movement’s gritted-teeth rage with their lyrics more than their music. Call it pub rock, call it punk rock, call it New Wave – this was energetic rock with a point of view.

Vocals, Piano, Harmonica, Melodica, Written-By – Joe Jackson. Other Versions (5 of 65) View All. Cat. I'm The Man ‎(LP, Album, Ter). A&M Records, A&M Records.

I’m The Man was Joe Jackson’s second album. It was a follow up to his debut Look Sharp! In many ways it could even be considered a continuation. He would follow those up with the swinging, big-bandish ‘Jumpin’ Jive. He would never stay with one style too long after that. Joe Jackson, I’m the Man, peaked at on the Billboard Top 200 Album chart. All songs written by Jackson, except where noted.

My copy appears to have been printed with the back oriented to the left (from the front the album enters as typical to the right side yet from the back view the album enters at top).

Why is there still no UK first press listed? All the links in the repress listings run in circles/link to themselves. A first press is mentioned in the notes but no sign of it here.
