The Band is the second studio album by the Band, released on September 22, 1969. It is also known as The Brown Album. According to Rob Bowman's liner notes for the 2000 reissue, The Band has been viewed as a concept album, with the songs focusing on people, places and traditions associated with an older version of Americana.

Biography by Bruce Eder. The former Bob Dylan backing band that ushered in the roots rock of the '70s, embodying Americana in a way that no one else has approached.

The album's single, "Up on Cripple Creek," became the Band's first and only Top 30 release. It was one of several songs on the album that had an "old-timey" feel. Other highlights on this masterpiece include "Rag Mama Rag," "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down," and "King Harvest. -Rob Bowman, All-Music Guide. Rhino released a box set in May 1998 containing this video and the CD The Band.

The band made two strong albums with new singer Blaze Bayley and continued to honour their commitment to intensive touring. However, it was the return of Dickinson and guitarist Adrian Smith (who originally left the band in 1990) in 1999 when Iron Maiden became a six-piece, that established the ultimate Iron Maiden line-up of Bruce Dickinson on vocals, Steve Harris on bass, Nicko McBrain on drums and the three amigos – Adrian Smith, Dave Murray and Janick Gers - on guitar, heralding a. new golden age with the release of Brave New World album in 2000. With over 90 million album sales, more than 2000 live performances in 63 countries, tens of millions of fans and 16 studio albums of unerring quality and power to their name, Iron Maiden have more than earned their proudly-held status as one of the most influential and revered rock bands of all time.

The earliest US releases of "The Band" were mastered by Bob Ludwig and are sought after for their fine sound. They have "RL" in the runouts (but not always on both sides). The RL releases have the green Capitol "target" label and most of them have the names of The Band's members printed on the label. There is a RL Scranton release without the names on the label.Listed in release-number order, here are the RL releases now on Discogs:r3769972 - Los Angeles with namesr4537647 - Jacksonville with namesr6377389 - Scranton without namesr7096424 - Scranton with names

My copy of this STA -132 pressing (with Band members listed on the label) came with a big poster, printed on thin card rather than paper. It's the size of the gatefold plus another 1/3 folded-under along the bottom and the side. Its a street scene with The Band hanging round the "Jook Joint" and "Blackie's Pool Hall". I can't find a scan or mention of this anywhere...does it usually come with this Album?

Hi! That poster usually came with the Band LP "Moondog Matinee" and it actually isn't a poster, but rather a "wraparound-sleeve". Those were wrapped around the cover of the original pressings of that album inside the shrik wrap.-Sam
