Burnt Weeny Sandwich is the sixth studio album by the American rock band the Mothers of Invention, and the ninth overall by Frank Zappa, released in 1970. It consists of both studio recordings and live elements. In contrast to the next album Weasels Ripped My Flesh, which is predominantly live and song-oriented, most of Burnt Weeny Sandwich focuses on studio recordings and tightly arranged compositions.
The cover art includes material from Sept/Oct tour in 1968 and a collage for a shelved Eric Dolphy album project. Another very similar reissue version with a black dot WEA logo appearing in the rim text of the labels, can be seen here: The Mothers Of Invention - Burnt Weeny Sandwich. Rights Society: BMI. Burnt weeny sandwich seems to be an underrated Zappa album. Released in 70', Zappa was at the end of the "collage" period and just before its great jazz-rock era which culminates with the two masterpieces: "Waka, Jawaka" and "The gran wazzo" in 1972. Burnt weeny sandwich" offers an original blend of 50's pop song's parody (the humorous side), contemporary music and beautiful Zappa's guitar at its most inspired.
Weasels Ripped My Flesh is the seventh studio album by the American rock band the Mothers of Invention, and the tenth overall by Frank Zappa, released in 1970. It is the second album released after the Mothers' disbanded in 1969, preceded by Burnt Weeny Sandwich. In contrast to its predecessor, which almost entirely focused on studio recordings of arranged compositions, Weasels Ripped My Flesh consists of a combination of live and studio recordings and features more improvisation.

Theme From Burnt Weeny Sandwich is arguably the weakest of the instrumentals, being a fairly average Zappa guitar solo from the We’re Only In It For The Money sessions over a later percussion piece. It’s not necessarily a bad song, just more forgettable than the rest. Igor’s Boogie Part Two is just a slightly different reprise of the original Igor’s boogie, preceding the second Holiday In Berlin. Holiday In Berlin (Full Blown) expands upon the themes established in the Overture, featuring a decent Zappa guitar solo and some excellent piano and sax work.
Jeez, so many thought-provoking ideas come through on this thing, as this record kind of acts as Uncle Meat Pt. 2, this time with a little more of a concise and all-encompassing sound. At just about 40 minutes, this album achieves most of what Uncle Meat does, while it's also clear that The Mothers are changing and evolving as a group of musicians. Color: Green FAV TRACKS: The Little House I Used to Live In, Valarie, Aybe Sea, WPLJ LEAST FAV: Igor's Boogie (Part 2). 1mo. NR. I love this album so much.
