Kurtis Blow is the self-titled debut album by American rapper Kurtis Blow. It was released in 1980 by Mercury Records. The record includes the song "The Breaks", which was often sampled later in hip-hop records, mainly for its introduction made by Blow's a cappella vocal, and for the drum break, giving a wordplay dimension to the title. Rappin' Blow, Pt. 2" was issued as a single that had a do-it-yourself B-side, the instrumental version.
The well was exhausted by the time Blowfly issued this album. His rap style, while still attractive for its clipped, brusque cadence, was wasted on forgettable material and his productions were routine. 1 Back by Popular Demand Kurtis Blow 5:25. 2 Back by Popular Demand Kurtis Blow null:null. 3 Suckers in the Place Kurtis Blow 4:44. 4 Still on the Scene Kurtis Blow 4:32. 5 I'm Feeling Good Kurtis Blow 5:54. 6 Get on Up Kurtis Blow 2:23. 7 Love Don't Love Nobody Kurtis Blow null:null.
