Jimmy Campbell (4 January 1944 – 12 February 2007) was an English musician and songwriter from Liverpool, England. He was a member of Merseybeat groups The Kirkbys, The 23rd Turnoff, and Rockin' Horse, as well as releasing three solo albums. Campbell started in music at school, forming the band The Panthers. They supported The Beatles in January 1962.

This may have been Jimmy Campbell's album, but in reality it was Michael Snow's baby, and the set's wistful and whimsical aura, delicate atmospheres, and lovely simplicity are all down to him. Tied to a three record deal, Campbell begrudgingly laid down the tracks for his final solo set with little care or concern, running through new and old songs accompanied only by his own, ofttimes out of tune acoustic guitar. At a loss, Campbell's manager handed the tapes to Snow in hopes of him conjuring up something that Campbell's label would accept. Snow enlisted RKO arranger.

Led by the Jimmy Webb-penned title cut, Galveston also doubled the number of Webb contributions on a Campbell record, with Where’s the Playground, Susie released as the follow-up single to the title track. Where Webb’s 1967 smash for Campbell, By the Time I Get to Phoenix, was a heartbreaking road trip, Galveston set its poignant scene on a Texas island town, yet both songs rely on the narrator’s imagination to tell their respective stories, a method that opens Webb’s compositions to myriad interpretations.

This is Jimmy's third and last solo album released in 1972. Many delicate songs on here. Great to listen to if your feeling Dehyped. Jimmy Campbell- It& Just Like A Girl.
