Oi! The Album is a 1980 Oi! compilation album, released in 1980 by EMI, then re-released by Captain Oi! and Cleopatra Records on CD in later years. It was conceived and compiled by then Sounds columnist Garry Bushell who had coined the phrase "Oi!" to denote what he called a new breed of working class punk rock with "terrace" or mob choruses. Of the bands labeled Oi!, Bushell had managed the Cockney Rejects and went on to manage the Blood.

Not one of the great Oi! compilations, but a fairly decent collection, Oi! The Album includes some of the bigger names associated with that scene, such as the Cockney Rejects, Cock Sparrer, and 4-Skins, as well as some comic bands who often make it onto Oi! compilations for some reason, like Postmen and Max Splodge & Desert Island Joe. The best track is probably Cock Sparrer's "Sunday Stripper," an otherwise hard-to-find song which sounds like a real striptease number, though punked-up by this superb bootboy squad.

Imported ed. Import, Remastered. This album is a good way for you to get into Oi!. It is certainly a way to find out if it is your thing or not. This album is good, but I would definatly rather pick up a Sham 69, Cockney Rejects or Cock Sparrer disc instead. If you want to spend good money on some working class punk rock, I would reccomend "Shock Troops" by Cock Sparrer.

Of the bands termed Oi!, Bushell had managed the Cockney Rejects and went on to manage the Blood. With Sergeant, they recorded their single Flares n Slippers, which sold out its first pressing, Murrell and Harvey were then replaced by Vince Riordan on bass and Andy Scott on drums, from fellow East End London band, The Tickets. This became known as Cockney Rejects classic lineup, and its debut at the Bridge House in Canning Town in June 1979 is considered a point for the band.
