Mingus Cuernavaca is a collaboration between tenor saxophonist Jean-Marc Padovani and poet Enzo Cormann with a variety of musicians. Although the title would indicate that the CD is a tribute to Charles Mingus, only one of the great bassist/composer's songs, "Goodbye Porkpie Hat" (itself a memorial tribute to Lester Young), is present, while Cormann sings on this number.

Jean-Marc Padovani (born February 2, 1956, Villeneuve-lès-Avignon) is a French jazz saxophonist who has recorded for Label Bleu, Harmonia Mundi, and other record labels. Saxophonist, composer, and arranger, Jean-Marc Padovani, has worked in theatre, cinema, and song. Born in 1956 in Villeneuve-lès-Avignon, he lives today in Toulouse. After studying classical music he enrolled in the jazz class of Guy Longnon at the Marseille Conservatory. With Enzo Cormann, Charlène Martin, and Paul Brousseau,he presented a children's show at the end of 2012 Le Blues de Jean Lhomme which was released as a picture book/ cd by La Joie de Lire with illustrations by Natasha Krenbol.
