Warsaw was the planned debut album by the English post-punk band Joy Division, while they were briefly associated with RCA Records. Recorded in May 1978, it comprised eleven tracks now known collectively as the "RCA Sessions". However, the band were disappointed with the label's post-production work and the deal fell through, the album being scrapped.

Found a copy of VP80000 at Biit.me (available also online) record shop in Tallinn and they seem to have some copies more over there… Great find for quite a good price!
The issue with all these versions of the RCA demos is that there has never been an official release from a first generation analogue recording so the sound is always going to be a bit ragged, some people love the raw thin feel of these early versions, hi-fidelity they are not, but until there is a definitive stand alone release with the permission of the copyright holders/musicians the bootleggers will keep on churning them out and ultimately fans and collectors will buy them.
Its a Compilation of the Warsaw Studio Demos from 1978-1979. The best Joy Division Album IMO. I love the raw and aggressive sound of them in this one. The later Versions of those songs (on Still for example), sound really boring and lame in comparision. They had so much energy. Of course the soundquality is bad but it makes this record sound even more raw and aggresiv. But the cover is ugly AF. :D
"I'm living in the ishhhhh age." This is a bootleg of a bootleg of a bootleg. At some point there was a needle-drop of a bootleg vinyl version, with a really worn out needle, and this is mastered from a CD bootleg version of that!

Incredible sound for this kind of a record. Also, even if it's not limited (at least not 1,000) ,it's a real must have for JD fans. Highly recommended
It would be interesting to know the "truth" with regard to this. Clearly there are issues with the listing. Under Barcode and Other Identifiers there are two variants listed. This would explain the other anomaly regarding the listing's stated limited release of 1000 when it is apparent that there are currently 1967 people claiming to own it. This figure will only increase because it is still available to purchase new/sealed in retailers. The one I bought yesterday is "Variant 2" which suggests to me that if there ever was a genuine limited release, then it would be "Variant 1". Whoever listed this originally probably didn't list two variants and a second variant has been edited in by another contributor. I suspect that the second variant is a reissue and needs clarification, particularly in current markets where a genuine ltd edition copy from 2007 would command a significantly higher value than one which can still be bought new today!
There's some heavy sibilance/distortion on the "ssss" sounds, which to my knowledge only occurs with vinyl, either because it was mastered poorly or is played back with a worn needle. And it is definitely not coming from my stylus, so there had to be a needle-drop somewhere in the provenance of this recording. Also the bass is so overblown on some tracks that I need to turn it down a bit. Those issues aside, it still sounds pretty good for a bootleg. A must for Joy Division fans.
This is a fantastic pressing in terms of sound quality, especially for a bootleg. "The Drawback" is a little quiet, but other than that, the rest of the tracks are in phenomenal shape. I love how crisp "They Walked In Line" is, as I never have heard a digital version of the song that sounds remotely close in terms of sound quality to the version on this album. This Warsaw bootleg is a must for Joy Division fans, complete with early demos of several hit tracks in beautiful audio quality, as well as tracks from the "The Warsaw Demo" on the second side. I am quite curious to know the actual number of albums released under this pressing. Vinyl Passion states 1000 were pressed on 180-gram vinyl, but I doubt this as nearly 1300 Discogs users claim to have it and it's a very readily-available album sold online for a low price.
Plus it's a 2007 release, and Amazon.com has "Only 16 left in stock." Lol.
Funny that it says above that there were 1000 pressed yet 1102 Discoggers claim to have this!
I was thinking the same lol
Really impressive sound quality on this pressing.I don't usually buy bootlegs or demo recordings (to be honest you may as well just download the files), but this vinyl really sounds fantastic. Not just that, but of course the music contained within is absolutely essential. Incredibly powerful, raw performances.Highly recommended, at least on this pressing.
