Unusual Sounds encapsulates the niche and fascinating subculture of library music. Genres were spliced, conventions dispensed with, and oftentimes hybrid music of astonishing complexity was produced. Elements of rock, jazz, soul, even twentieth-century avant-garde composition were all utilized, and no stone was left unturned in the 20 track compilation. As a result, some of the best library music defies all categorization, reflecting the individualistic quirks and artistry of the various musicia. Unusual Sounds encapsulates the niche and fascinating subculture of library music.

Great selection, not the greatest pressing. Almost as bad as the Vergogna Shifosi coloured vinyl re-issue.

This is a thoughtful compilation, worth a listen. Priced nicely for a 2LP, this features a quality selection of library tracks. The inclusion of Group Meditation (a 15 minute track!) is an interesting choice, certainly not something you generally see done on comps. The mastering is a bit inconsistent, which is inevitable given the wide diversity of source material. "La Dimostrazione" which sounds muddy and terrible on the original pressing was given a shot of energy on the mastering. I could have done with better plant QC, as my copy has off-center pressing on two sides, one disc is moderately warped, and side 4 has an audible flaw affecting the first five minutes. I look forward to picking up a copy of the book.

Started out as a fairly typical affair with several already compiled tracks. Good choices just nothing terribly new to my ears. As the disc went on though it became more interesting & evolved into a pleasant selection of ambient electronic library music. Well worth the inexpensive price & a great place to start if you don’t already have a lot of library music comps.

Another useless compilation... 90% of the songs are been already comped, repressed, re-released, over knowed and bla bla bla... the 10% of the rest are completely forgettable... By the way, the book "Unusual Sounds" its higly collectible and very well done.

You're acting like it's unacceptable to critique something. Get thicker skin.

Why is it acceptable to critique like this? Somebody has worked hard to compile this - it's a labour of love running a record label. You should be more respectful of Independent producers or you may living in a world of UTTER dross very soon.
